MEET THE MASTERCHEFS!

HELLO! We are the Lime Planets,

















the Lime Spaceships,

















the Lime Aliens,

















and the Lime Moons

















from the Space Class at Welcome English School.


In March, we prepared healthy snacks with ingredients from many countries. We had a fun time making and trying different foods. We copied recipes and drew flags from many countries. Also, we learned many words about cooking!



Here are our recipes. We hope you like them.

Week 1: SMOOTHIES - made with fruit, yogurt and milk.

Week 2: SALADS - made with vegetables and grains.

Week 3: SANDWICHES - made with bread and different fillings.

Week 4: CEREAL BARS - made with cereals, fruit and sometimes chocolate.

CEREAL BARS


We made two types of cereal bars. We liked them because they were delicious and they were easy to make. Also, we could choose different ingredients for our cereal bars. We loved them!

CHOCOLATE FRIDGE CAKE

250g milk chocolate
50g butter
2 tablespoons honey
8 marshmallows
8 Maria biscuits
1/2 cup raisins or other dried fruit
1/2 cup rice or corn cereals
1/2 cup coconut



1. Melt chocolate, butter and honey in a bowl over hot water.


2. Cut the marshmallows into small pieces.


3. Add the marshmallows and the rest of the ingredients to the chocolate.


4. Stir well, then put it into a baking pan.


5. Press until flat, then put it in the fridge to get cold.


6. When it is cold, cut into small squares and eat!






BASIC CEREAL BAR RECIPE

1 cup porridge oats
1/2 cup rice or corn cereals
2 tablespoons coconut
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons honey

Then add 2 tablespoons of one, two or three of these:

Chocolate chips (white or dark)
Peanuts
Almonds
Lacasitos or similar
Dried cranberries
Raisins



1. Mix oats, cereals and coconut in a bowl. 



2. Add the extra ingredients.






3. Melt butter and honey in a pan. Boil for one minute.


4. Pour the melted honey on the dry ingredients and mix well.



5. Put mixture into the dish and press until flat. Let it get cold.




6. Cut into small pieces and eat!

SANDWICHES


We made 4 sandwiches from different countries.

Sandwiches are healthy snacks because they can contain different kinds of vegetables, meat, fish and grain.

We loved them because they are easy to make and they are delicious, too!


CROQUE MONSIEUR (Cheese and Ham sandwich) - from France

2 slices white bread
1 slice emmenthal cheese
1 slice york ham
25g butter


1. Put the ham on the bread.
2. Put the cheese on the ham.




3. Melt the butter in a pan.
4. Fry the sandwich on both sides.


5. Cut the sandwich and eat!




HAMBURGER - from the USA

1 hamburger bun
125g minced beef
1/2 small onion
Salt and pepper
Ketchup, mustard, cheese



1. Chop the onion into small pieces.


2. Mix into the meat with salt and pepper.


3. Make a burger from the meat.


4. Fry the burger and put on the bun.


5. Add sauce and cheese and eat!



HUMMUS AND SALAD SANDWICH - from Turkey

2 slices wholemeal bread
2 tablespoons hummus
Lettuce, chopped
Tomato, sliced


1. Put hummus on the bread.
2. Chop the lettuce and put it on the hummus.


3. Slice the tomato and put it on the lettuce.


4. Cover it with the other slice of bread.


5. Cut the sandwich and eat!



CORONATION CHICKEN SANDWICH - from India 

2 slices wholemeal bread
1/2 cooked chicken breast
1 tablespoon natural yogurt
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon apricot jam
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
Salt and pepper
Sliced lettuce

1. Chop the chicken and put it in a bowl.
2. Add the remaining ingredients to the chicken.


3. Mix the chicken well. You can add lettuce if you want.


4. Put the chicken on the bread.


5. Cut the sandwich and eat!

SALADS


We made 4 salads from different countries.

Salads are healthy snacks because they contain many vegetables and other ingredients like pasta.

We liked salads because they were fun to make and they are delicious!

PASTA SALAD - from Italy

Cooked pasta
Tinned tuna
Peas
Sweetcorn
Red pepper
Salt and pepper
Olive oil
Vinegar or lemon juice

1. Put the pasta in a bowl.



2. Put the tuna on the pasta.


3. Add the sweetcorn and peas.


4. Chop the red pepper and add to the bowl.


5. Add salt, pepper, oil and vinegar/lemon juice and stir.



6. Serve and eat!



POTATO SALAD - from Germany

Cooked potatoes
Celery
Gherkins
Mayonnaise
Natural yogurt
Salt and pepper
Vinegar

1. Peel and chop the potatoes and put in a bowl.


2. Slice the celery and add to the potatoes.



3. Cut the gherkins and add to the salad.


4. Add yogurt and mayonnaise.


5. Add salt, pepper and vinegar and stir.




6. Serve and eat!



COUS COUS SALAD - from Morocco

Cous cous
Aubergine
Courgette
Carrot
Cooked egg
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
Coriander leaves

1. Put hot water and salt on the cous cous. Stir.



2. Chop the aubergine and courgette and fry.


3. Add the cooked vegetables to the cous cous.


4. Grate the carrot and egg and add to the salad.


5. Add salt, pepper and oil to the salad. Mix.


6. Serve and eat!



GREEK SALAD - from Greece

Tomato
Cucumber
Onion
Feta cheese
Black olives
Olive oil
Lemon juice
Salt and pepper

1. Chop the tomato and put in a bowl.



2. Peel and chop the cucumber and add to the tomato.



3. Peel and slice the onion and add to the salad.



4. Chop the cheese and olives and add to the salad.


5. Add olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper and mix together.


6. Serve and eat!
